Program Details

Chadron State College is offering a Master of Arts Degree in Education-Science or Mathematics, a program for students who are interested in pursuing a career or a doctoral degree in areas related to the subject. The curriculum is customized to meet the academic and career goals of students and is offered online as well as in person. To be eligible for this program, students must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of a least 2.75.

The degree requires 63 credit hours with approximately half in Basic Education Core requirements and the other half in electives. Basic cores include Introduction to Graduate Studies (which must be completed within the first 12 hours of the program) and Sampling Techniques. Statistical Methods/Data Analysis is also a required course, though if a student has taken this course as an undergraduate, he or she can work with the advisory committee to determine other appropriate courses.

Students must also complete either a Master’s Thesis or a Scholarly Project which may also be discussed with the advisory committee. Finally, elective courses can be selected based on the student’s interest and career goals (one elective must be from the Education/Psychology department). All electives must be selected in conjunction with the advisor and approved by the graduate committee.


Students must have earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with a grade point average of 2.75 or better on a 4.00 scale.
