Chadron State College currently has a Bachelor of Arts with a Subject Major in General Business. This program is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in business and involves a broad curriculum in all phases of business practices. Students will learn core management skills (such as principles and administration) as well as business operations (such as accounting and marketing). This degree is ideal for someone who is exploring starting up their own company or overall managing another business in that it covers all the basic aspects that are important in running a business. It is also designed for students who wish to pursue higher education.
Students must complete 36 total credit hours in the program as well as the General Studies requirements plus a major or minor in an additional discipline. Students will take courses on topics such as accounting principles, business law, macro/microeconomics, strategic management, and principle of marketing. Student’s who’ve transferred from a two-year institution must complete at least half of the required courses for the major from CSC. Business majors must complete one of the following: Mathematics requirement prior to taking advanced (300/400 level) Finance, Economics and Management courses; Applied Calculus; College Algebra; or an equivalent course. Business majors must also complete Business Communications (or equivalent) as a part of the General Studies Communication requirement.
The General Studies portion of the degree promotes a breadth of knowledge in many different academic areas in order to expand intellectual development. The program teaches students to think constructively and critically on global and social issues. General Studies areas include, but are not limited to, communication, fine arts, history, physical education, and science. Up to nine credit hours in general studies may be applied towards the secondary major or minor, though none can be applied towards the General Business requirements except for Business Communications.

Transfer students from a two (2) year institution must complete 50% of the required courses for the major from Chadron State College.

Chadron State College supports distance education, including: bachelor’s degree completion programs, master’s degree programs, elective and general studies courses, and alternative teacher certificate courses. CSC Online offers courses during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students pay a flat rate of tuition for distance education programming, with no out-of-state tuition.
