Program Overview

The Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship Associate in Science Degree, 60 units total, 30 units in the major, is designed to provide students with key entrepreneurial skills to succeed in a small business environment. Upon completion of this degree, the student will be able to demonstrate a general understanding of small business management, apply critical thinking skills to technical issues, and solve problems in a small business environment.

This degree is not specifically designed for transfer. Students wishing to transfer are advised to consider the Business Administration AA degree. Courses required for the Associate degree major at Cerro Coso Community College may not be the same as those required for a major at a four-year school. Students must complete a minimum of 60 units, including the courses listed in the major and general education requirements, with an overall GPA of 2.0 or better, and a grade of “A,” “B,” “C,” or “P” in all courses for the major. A minimum of 12 units must be completed at Cerro Coso Community College.

    First established in 1973, Cerro Coso Community College is a two-year, public school, and one of three higher educational institutions within the Kern Community College District. Added programs of study include certificates, career development, job skills, occupational training, and workforce education programs. CC Online is the distance education campus within Cerro Coso Community College that provides students with a wide range of associate’s degrees and certificate programs.
