Program Details

Central Washington University offers an online writing degree, the Master of Arts in Professional & Creative Writing, designed to take students’ writing to an advanced level.  This is a combination creative writing degree mixed with a professional writing program which helps educate students for a new king of knowledge based on “learning” rather than on “knowing.”  The curriculum is rigorous and flexible, providing a variety of writing instruction and mentorship to meet a wide array of student needs as they move forward in their established professional careers while broadening the contexts and genres available to their writing.  Coursework emphasizes creative and critical thinking skills, so students are prepared for a new kind of intellectual workplace that crosses the creative and professional writing disciplines.  You will have the opportunity to develop your own course of study that helps meet your goals, whether you want to begin a writing-intensive career, develop publishable creative writing, establish a professional writing profile, advance your career in the workplace, or continue to a higher education program.
