The Associate of Science in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Mathematics and Science degree offered by Cayuga Community College is a program of study available to students in a completely online format. This program aims to give students the opportunity to design their own program of study that meets their personal interests or career or educational goals. This program can be used to prepare a student to transfer to a four-year Bachelor degree level program; a way to determine an educational goal; or to determine what job or career is appropriate for the student.
This program aims to equip a student with a foundational level of skills and knowledge related to Liberal Arts and a General Education. By the end of this program, a student should be able to convey the following knowledge and perform the following skills: to have an awareness and appreciation of Science; to have a proficiency in academic skills including: research, critical thinking, and scientific methods that are needed to master specialized fields; to have the ability to understand and communicate scientific and mathematical information; to have a basic understanding of the structure of mathematics and its application in the sciences; to be able to apply their knowledge of mathematics and science in diverse problem-solving situations; and to develop computer software in mathematical and scientific applications.
This program requires a student to complete a minimum of 62 credit hours of courses in order to graduate. Students must take 12 credit hours of English courses, 9 credit hours of Behavioral and Social Sciences, 9 credit hours of Liberal Arts electives, 3 credit hours of Other World Civilizations or The Arts, and 3 credit hours of Health and Physical Education electives. In order to acquire this degree, a student must take a minimum of at least 20 credit hours of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. This includes electives in Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics. Students can take concentrations in Biology, Geographic Information Systems, Geology, and Chemistry in order to best fit their career and educational goals.

Cayuga Community College is a two-year, public school, and part of the State University of New York (SUNY) higher educational system. The main campus is located in the city of Auburn, New York, and a second campus is maintained in Fulton. Cayuga Community College partners with Open SUNY to provide distance education degree options for students, including associate’s degrees and certificate programs.
Cayuga Community College awards Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science degrees. Degree programs offered in their entirety online include studies in business administration, liberal arts, and criminal justice. Certificates in criminal justice and general education can also be earned completely from a distance. Hybrid degree programs at Cayuga support at least fifty percent of coursework online.
