Program Details

The online BSN to DNP degree program from The University of Tennessee – Chattanooga focuses on developing the knowledge and skills to effectively lead in complex clinical environments. Core courses provide a foundation in informatics, evidence based practice and research, finance, organizational theory, resource management, and nursing theory and research. ​This knowledge is then expanded upon through courses in leadership, epidemiology, health policy, and clinical systems analysis and design. Graduates of the program are able to:​​

  • Practice in a specialized advanced nursing role through comprehensive assessment, ethically and culturally sensitive planning, therapeutic intervention, and evidence-based evaluation
  • ​Apply evidence-based prevention by integrating epidemiological, biostatistical, environmental, and other scientific data in providing health services to individuals, aggregates, and/or populations
  • ​Employ organizational and systems leadership competencies to address current and future health, safety, and other quality improvement issues for health services
  • ​Critically appraise information systems and advanced technical resources to support and improve health care
  • ​Integrate knowledge from nursing and other sciences in developing, implementing, and evaluating new practice approaches to meet goals for improving health care
  • ​Initiate, analyze, and/or influence proposals for health policy, respecting the perspectives of the consumer, other health care providers, and the affected communities of public entities, while incorporating priniciples of business, finance, and economics
  • ​Stimulate effective system change as a leader or a member of a collaborative and/or inter-professional team
