    School Overview

James Archibald Campbell, a North Carolina preacher, set a goal to make education affordable for all. The Buies Creek Academy opened its doors in 1887, and shortly into the twentieth century the school transitioned to Campbell Junior College. The school progressed forward, becoming a four-year college in 1961, and by 1979 the name officially became Campbell University. Since that period, graduate programs have been developed, in addition to a law school, business school, and divisions in pharmacy, education, and pinity. Today, the co-educational Baptist university maintains the 850-acre Buies Creek campus, in addition to satellite campuses in Raleigh, Research Triangle Park, Camp Lejeune, and a degree program in Malaysia.

Campbell University awards associate's and bachelor's degrees in over 100 programs and concentrations. Graduate students can pursue a large number of master’s and doctorate programs. The Extended Learning Campus houses both distance education and supports satellite campus programs. Campbell University offers a number of individual courses online for added flexibility. Classes are conducted asynchronously, but are not self-paced.These courses follow similar schedules and structures to on-campus counterparts, with assignments and deadlines.
