Worship Arts Concentration
Calvary University offers male students the opportunity to earn a Gateway Certificate with a concentration in Worship Arts. The certificate program is designed to academically train students to maximize musical gifts and talents while developing the much needed skill set necessary for effective ministry. The musically inclined student may use the concentration to best fit personal aspirations. The foundation of the curriculum will emphasize leading, teaching, performing, and ministering throughout the length of the degree program.
The Worship Arts certificate curriculum is comprised of biblical and theological studies in addition to the focus on music and its role in a church environment. The certificate courses build and reinforce a student’s depth of understanding needed for personal and professional goals. The program is 33 credit hours in length and delves into the essential concepts of study in topics such as: Music Theory, Music Technology, and Worship Leading, among others.
Students must also complete the general education courses in mathematics, literature, social and natural sciences, history, humanities and the fine arts. Successful students should be able to accurately use hermeneutics when analyzing, interpreting and applying ministry leadership in many professions.
Graduates should consistently demonstrate growth in their Christian character throughout the program and enrollment at the College. Successful students, upon graduation, may use the formal education when seeking musical careers communicating the scriptural truths in an accurate and effective manner to individuals in need. Graduates must also be able to perform the many responsibilities of pastoral care with practical skills.
