Exercise Science: Wellness & Fitness
California University of Pennsylvania offers a Wellness and Fitness track for a post masters certificate in Exercise Science. This program takes students 40 weeks to complete 12 credit hours (four classes).
These four classes are Research in Fitness and Wellness, An Integrated Approach to Fitness and Wellness, Program Design in Fitness and Wellness, and Current Topics in Fitness and Wellness. In these classes, students will learn how to design fitness and wellness training programs for the general population. This certificate program is geared towards those that are already practicing as a personal trainer, educator, military professional, coach, or other related field.
People skills are an important part of this career, as well as being able to motivate individuals to help them reach their own fitness goals. As an already practicing professional, students in this program should have some of these skills already. Passing the NASM CPT certification will heighten these attributes and contribute to the knowledge students already hold.
In addition to classes, students will be preparing to take the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification. Holders of this certificate will have the knowledge to plan and implement fitness programs to help clients obtain their goals in terms of performance, health, and fitness.
When individuals pass the exam, they will receive an official certificate within four weeks after passing the exam. If someone does not pass the exam, retests can be purchased three or more business days after the initial exam. After purchasing a retest, students have 180 days from that date to take the exam.
