Program Details

The online Doctor in Criminal Justice program is designed to address the need for criminal justice practitioners to handle current issues and policy changes while taking leadership roles in society.  The curriculum develops skills in in-depth analysis, policy implementation and evaluation; deepens understanding of real-world concerns in the field; and provides a foundation for promotion or consulting within the criminal justice field.  Graduates are prepared for careers in higher-level management positions in: 

  • Federal, state and local police agencies
  • Sheriff's offices
  • Corrections departments
  • Juvenile justice agencies
  • Investigative units of district attorneys' offices

Additional Info

  • Requires one five-day summer residency on campus
  • Earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent in criminal justice, criminology or a cognate discipline such as law, anthropology, sociology, psychology or public administration.  J.D. degree with demonstrated professional experience in criminal justice will also be considered.
