Program Overview

California State University in San Bernardino offers professional students the opportunity to finish a started academic program through online courses. Students should have the option of satisfying the needed coursework to complete and earn a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University’s College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. 

Criminal justice is a sought after career by many professionals, and contributes to the safety and protection of a society. The multi-faceted program of study intends to introduce students to concepts of law creation, court systems, policing procedures, correction facilities in addition to the academic curriculum needed for a broad depth and breadth understanding of the discipline. Students will combine previous work and academic experience to the accelerated online program, in addition to partaking in the core Criminal Justice courses covering topics such as: criminal law, research methods, victimology, law and the courts, and other subjects.

A foundation in criminal justice will consist of students learning the goals associated with enforcing laws, reducing crime, providing security and punishing those who infringe on established rules. The concept of criminal justice is a blend of practices and organizations that carry out the learned goals. The long standing set of goals and ideas of a criminal justice program have originated from previous cultures, religious sects and improved awareness of mental disorders. Criminology may be used in many aspects of modern society, and is in constant demand for well trained and educated professionals.

Graduates of the Criminal Justice degree may use the education to enter or excel in positions of public security, including careers as forensics, law enforcement, crime scene investigators, detectives, psychology, corrections officers, law, paralegal and the many other industries and agencies dependent on law enforcement.

    School Overview

    The roots for California State University, San Bernardino began with approval by the California State College system in 1960, and three years later a 430-acre site was chosen to construct the school. Throughout the twentieth century, CSUSB continued to grow. New research and curriculum programs continues at CSUSB.

    Today, the public, four-year California State, San Bernardino supports over 70 traditional bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, along with education credential programs, certificates, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership degree. CSUSB supports the College of Extended Learning to meet the needs of nontraditional students and working professionals. This division of the campus sponsors degree programs, international extension programs, customized workplace trainings, online coursework and programs, certificate and extension programs, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, as well as offering classes for personal enrichment purposes. Students pursuing distance learning have various options via the University’s online partners.
