Program Overview

California State University offers graduate students the opportunity to earn a Master of Public Administration degree through an innovative online learning format. Students of the respected program will partake in the same courses, contribute to discussions and complete assignments as the students of the on-campus program. The flexible online learning format allows busy professionals, currently working in the field or other careers, the opportunity to fulfill obligations while earning a valuable education.

The MPA program features a distinctive blend of public sector theory and practical applications suitable for many professions. The MPA program has two concentrations within the degree; students can focus their studies on Health Administration or Public Sector Management and Leadership. The concentrations will give students the specific skill sets needed to pursue personal and professional aspirations within the Public Administration field. Successful students can use the advanced education to perform critical tasks such as: overseeing policy programs, drafting and implementing governmental regulations and the management of people and resources. Public service professionals are often the liaison between governmental officials and non-profit organizations promoting the betterment of a community.

Graduates will use the cohort program structure to interact with peers, instructors as well as build a network of viable resources enabling a graduate to effectively and efficiently carryout learned skills. Health Administration and/or Public Sector Management and Leadership focuses combined with the core MPA coursework will give graduate students the confidence and knowledge to enter and excel in a multitude of positions, broadening their careers as well as creating better public policies.

    School Overview

    California State University, Northridge is a public university located in Los Angeles, California in the San Fernando Valley that was established in 1958. Formerly San Fernando Valley State College, this school originated as the first satellite campus of California State University. In 1972, the University changed its name to the current name, California State University, Northridge. CSUN has nine colleges, offering undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, several education degrees, and a DPT degree.
