California State University in Bakersfield offers graduate students the opportunity to earn a Master of Science in Administration degree through an online learning format. The M.S.A. program is a broad interdisciplinary program available to students around the world. The specialized curriculum delves into essential topics of interest in administration that are needed when entering or advancing in the competitive job market. Students have the option of selecting a strategic combination of electives to best satisfy goals or career requirements. The electives provide a focused area of study, allowing graduate students to gain a deeper understanding of pertinent administrative concepts.
The foundation of the administration program builds on already learned competencies and enhances the understanding of written and interpersonal communication, quantitative decision-making, project evaluation, project management, program evaluation, organizational architecture, and human resource management.
Graduates must complete all core coursework, in addition to chosen electives to be considered eligible for the masters degree designation. Student outcomes are assessed throughout the program as well as in a culminating capstone course demonstrating a full grasp of the MSA program objectives.

The California State University System recognized a need for a college in the San Joaquin Valley region, so in 1970, California State University Bakersfield, the 19th member of the University System, opened.
