Program Overview

California Baptist University offers a Bachelor of Arts completion degree in Public Relations. The curriculum is 49 units: nine units of lower courses, 33 units of upper courses, and seven units of additional program courses. All students are to complete CST 100 and meet the Upper Christian Studies requirements. Additionally, all students must complete Composition, Intermediate Composition, and Oral Communications prior to taking the core courses. It is preferred that applicants have a minimum of 24 transferrable units with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Students are encouraged to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually. The curriculum has a holistic approach; students develop strong moral character while developing a strong background in various topics of public relations. Christian perspectives are integrated into the coursework, which helps students develop a deeper understanding of how their values and faith relate to public relations. Students will also develop professional skills in research & investigation, interviewing & reporting, analytical writing, explanatory writing, editing, layout & design, and media law & ethics. All of the courses are taught in accordance with the nationally accepted journalism standards.

California Baptist University graduates in Public Relations have pursued careers in the following fields, but is not limited to: Public/Media Relations, Journalism Research & Writing, News Reporting, and Editing & Design.

    California Baptist University, founded in 1950, stands on 130 plus acres in Riverside, California, and continues to promote a "Christ-centered educational experience" based on founding principles. By the 1980s, the school began conferring graduate students. Today, the private, not-for-profit four-year CBU offers undergraduate majors and concentrations, along with graduate programs.
