Buena Vista was founded in Storm Lake, Iowa, by the Presbyterian Church in 1891. Today, the university is a four-year, private, not-for-profit institution of higher education, and retains its affiliations with the Presbyterian Church. Buena Vista states the following mission: “We prepare students for lifelong success through transformational academic, professional and co-curricular programs.”
Buena Vista University offers associate’s degrees, pre-professional degrees, and teaching certifications. Programs of study are housed in the following schools:
