Program Details

Bucks County Community College offers an Associates in Secondary Education - Mathematics for students interested in developing a fundamental education in mathematics for the purpose of future employment as an educator or teacher. Students will develop their understanding and knowledge regarding mathematics in addition to developing an understanding of processes and practices relating to education.  The program is intended to be the basis of future baccalaureate and master's education necessary for roles in education.

Students will focus on a curriculum that emphasizes mathematical ability and mathematical education as part of a general education program for future educators. Those classes include computer science, physics, English composition, effective speaking, calculus, linear algebra, introduction to psychology, foundations of education, educational psychology, cultural perspectives, integration of knowledge, mathematics electives, and personal health.

Upon completing the program, students will have demonstrated certain qualifications. Those qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to accurately interpret and translate pictorial and descriptive information into mathematical statements, to solve problems quantitatively and communicate results clearly, to demonstrate understanding of functions, limits, differentiation and integration, and to demonstrate computational skills in areas of applied mathematics.


Placement test (exempt for recent graduates with a 3.0 GPA or higher in high school).
