Bucks County Community College offers an Associates in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Social Science for students who are interested in examining various social sciences, liberal arts, and humanities, but have not chosen a specific discipline for which to choose a career. Students will work on developing their foundational knowledge in addition to communication skills, creative thinking and critical thinking capacities. Students completing the program will be familiar with different fields in social sciences for future education.
Individuals will take part in a curriculum which will develop general education knowledge in a variety of fields relating to social sciences and liberal arts. Those classes include English composition, college level mathematics, creative expression, cultural perspectives, integration of knowledge, personal health, social perspective, and effective speaking.
Upon completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the necessary educational qualifications for future studies. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to demonstrate a critical appreciation of the ways in which individuals gain knowledge and understanding of ourselves and the world around us, to demonstrate an informed acquaintance with the main forms of analysis needed for investigating the workings and development of modern society, and to demonstrate knowledge of mathematical and scientific methods and some of the important artistic achievements of the past.
Placement test (exempt for recent graduates with a 3.0 GPA or higher in high school).
