Program Overview

Brenau University offers the Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership for students, leaders, administrators, managers, and other professionals that are interested in developing an understanding of the advanced principles and practices of leadership of organizational structures. Students will learn about administration roles in business and how leadership is applied to those roles for the purpose managing business and the other roles of leaders in business. Students will develop an understanding of how leadership impacts organizational efficiency and will develop their own leadership styles as they learn to inspire others and influence the future of organizations. In addition, they will explore the perspectives of what makes a good leader and evaluate their own leadership style.

Students will learn and develop their skills through a curriculum which involves classes that focus on specialized management education. Those classes include cross-cultural business challenges, resource management, negotiation and mediation, critical and creative thinking, organizational culture and learning, management and organizational behavior, managerial leadership, organizational development and change, strategic planning, international business experience, and advanced management topics.

Students will have demonstrated their qualification to function in advanced roles in management in businesses and organizations through completion of the program. These qualifications include, but are not limited to the ability to develop business ideas based on strategic foresight of future business activity, to design marketing strategies and plans specific to customer and market needs, to create technology innovation plans based on consumer needs that bring about growth, to develop and recommend preferred human resource systems and plans sensitive to the dynamics of corporate human behavior in different global contexts, to use accounting and financial information for decision-making purposes in diverse business settings and situations, and to develop operations plans and determine appropriate quality improvement strategies for product manufacturing and service delivery in diverse global cultures and environments.

    School Overview

    Brenau University first opened in 1878, as seminary for women. By 1972, the school began initiatives to provide educational opportunities for adult students and nontraditional learners. Today, Brenau University is a four-year, private not-for-profit, coeducational institution of higher education, located in the city of Gainesville, Georgia.

    Students can pursue associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, in addition to postgraduate certificates and doctoral programs. Brenau University provides a number of undergraduate and graduate distance education programs, including associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees. 

    Brenau Online oversees distance education programming for the university. Brenau strives to create a highly interactive virtual learning environment. Individual classes can be completed within seven weeks, and are asynchronous. While classes do not require on-campus components, students must attend virtual courses from five to seven days per week. Certified instructors receive training specifically geared towards teaching distance education courses.
