Program Overview

Brenau University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management for students who are interested in taking on a role in business that involves maximizing the potential of employees and leaders in the company in order to make the business more prosperous. The program is based on the development of understanding of business activities and learning to focus on maintaining, securing, and effectively working with those who make up an organization. Students will utilize their resources to promoting the efficiency and competitiveness of businesses and act as a leader and manager. In addition, students will learn how to act as a leader and how to govern, measure, integrate, and reward those within an organization.

Students will take part in a curriculum which will develop their understanding of business operations and the roles taken by managers to control employee activity. Those classes include accounting principles, microeconomics, macroeconomics, management principles, business statistics, business communications, legal environment of business, human resources management, organizational behavior, marketing principles, managerial finance, business ethics, and value chain management.

Through the program, students will demonstrate the understanding of business concepts and structures to function as a manager or administrator. These qualifications demonstrate to others that the student is a qualified to take on an entry-level position in management and administration. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to demonstrate the knowledge and preparation to function as a manager and leader in human resources, and to demonstrate knowledge of strategic management, principals of staffing, compensation, benefits, employee development, employee relations, and labor management.

    School Overview

    Brenau University first opened in 1878, as seminary for women. By 1972, the school began initiatives to provide educational opportunities for adult students and nontraditional learners. Today, Brenau University is a four-year, private not-for-profit, coeducational institution of higher education, located in the city of Gainesville, Georgia.

    Students can pursue associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, in addition to postgraduate certificates and doctoral programs. Brenau University provides a number of undergraduate and graduate distance education programs, including associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees. 

    Brenau Online oversees distance education programming for the university. Brenau strives to create a highly interactive virtual learning environment. Individual classes can be completed within seven weeks, and are asynchronous. While classes do not require on-campus components, students must attend virtual courses from five to seven days per week. Certified instructors receive training specifically geared towards teaching distance education courses.
