Master of Science in Human Resources
Building on the already learned foundations of previous educations and experiences in human resources, students have the opportunity to earn a Masters of Science focusing on advanced topics of Human Resources through Brandman University’s online or on-campus degree program. The Masters curriculum is available to students at one of the many participating California campuses, approved military bases or completely online. The University recognizes the busy schedules of professionals seeking the additional education, and offers the flexible learning format allowing students to earn the necessary credentials towards career advancement.
The Master of Science in Human Resources program delves deeper into the core concepts associated with the proper practice of appropriate employee experiences. A human resources (HR) department is generally responsible for the employee experience. The primary objective is to attract and recruit suitable employees with proper industry marketing, then hire and oversee training and development during the entire employment with the organization. HR is also involved in employee terminations - including resignations, performance-related dismissals, and redundancies. Human resources is the human touch to the dynamic business industry.
Students must complete the 36 credit Masters program is a series of three segments; allowing for the student to gain the foundation for satisfactory completion of the final capstone project. The first segment is comprised of 24 credits of core Human Resource concepts such as: Conflict and Negotiation, Recruitment and Selection, Human Resources Systems, Training and Development, Compensation, Legal Issues, Benefits and Organizational Research. The remaining credits are dedicated to the students choice of electives (9 credits) in topics best suited to personal and professional goals, and the completion of a final capstone Human Resources project in strategic management (3 credits).
Successful students should be able to apply the learned coursework to current practices to maximize organizational performance and employee satisfaction. Graduate students may also combine previous experiences with the enhanced Masters curriculum to pursue mid-level positions achievements within current organizations.
