MA Educational Leadership and Admin w/Admin Tier I Cred
Brandman University has made available to California teachers the opportunity to gain the additional foundational education to pursue leadership positions as administrative professionals in a variety of educational settings. Students have the option of earning the Master of Arts degree with the concentration on Educational Leadership and Administration, with Preliminary Administrative Services Credential. Student teachers should be able to satisfy the requirements to obtain internships within current educational facilities or when pursuing new careers at another establishment.
The Educational Leadership and Administration program is designed to develop a student teacher’s abilities to provide administrative, management and innovative improvement skills when assuming roles in a chosen educational system. The specialized program is comprised of a minimum of 33 credits, but can be up to 36 credits depending on the acquisition of an internship. Students must satisfy the foundation courses covering intrinsic topics such as: Human Resource Management, Instructional Leadership, Supervision and Accountability, Politically Intelligent Leadership and Governance, Education Law and Ethics, Culturally Responsive Leadership, School Finance and Resource Allocation, Research and Evaluation Methods, Learning Theory and Comparative Education.
Upon successful completion of the required foundation courses, students must also complete a final capstone course, culminating the MA programs objectives and demonstrating a students comprehensive understanding of administrative services. Students should also be aware of internship requirements for individual school systems, as well as the varying certification requirements for students who are California residents and wish to teach or perform as an administrator in a California school.
Graduates should be well prepared to perform the roles and responsibilities of managing an educational facility. Graduates may also use the learned skills when applying leadership models, supervision of personnel, implementation of policy, and the assessment of legal and social issues in a school system.
