MA Education, Teaching and Learning
Brandman University offers student teachers the opportunity to gain an advanced degree designation in the area of teaching and learning. In addition to several other concentrations, the Teaching and Learning focus introduces student teachers to the essential concepts for career advancement as well as personal development. The Master of Arts in Education program is designed for California teachers seeking to transfer 12 credits towards the degree curriculum, out of state students should speak with an advisor before entering into the Masters program.
The MA in Education, with a focus on Teaching and Learning should build on previous educations and experiences while solidifying a teachers understanding of other critical roles related to: Research and Evaluation Methods, Democracy, Education and Social Change, Learning Theory, Comparative Education, Social Foundations of Education and Curriculum Studies. Gaining the advanced degree in exceptional classroom methodologies should increase a student teachers awareness of necessary skills to become a mentor, a curriculum leader or a college instructor.
Students are required to satisfy the various admission requirements in addition to the minimum 30 credits in order to fulfill the Master of Arts degree program. The curriculum is comprised of 6 courses, accounting for 18 credits, and the remaining 12 credits are awarded for successful completion of a Multiple or Single Subjects SB 2042 BTSA Induction Clear Credential Program.
Graduates should be able to demonstrate a newly acquired perspective on the methods and theories of education as well as the primary objectives for building and designing an adaptive curriculum. Successful graduates may use the gained skills to move forward in the educational field while also becoming able to effectively evaluate educational research in higher learning facilities.
