MA Education, Leadership in Early Childhood Education
Student teachers seeking to expand their knowledge and skills in elementary education can partake in Brandman University’s online and on campus Master of Arts in Education degree program, with the concentration in Leadership in Early Childhood Education. The degree concentration is ideal for advanced teachers to gain the additional knowledge needed for entry into administrator or director roles in many types of early childhood education programs or facilities. The MA in Leadership in Early Childhood Education allows student teachers to deepen their understanding of issues and trends in the system as well as the development of fiscal planning skills, marketing, human resources and leadership abilities necessary for managing an early childhood program. The Leadership program follows standards set by the National Association for Education of Young Children.
Earning a specific specialization area of study with a Leadership focus may build on motivated student teachers previous educational concentrations of elementary education, while also introducing the core courses of: Foundations of Leadership, Public Policy and Fiscal Planning, Leadership and Human Resources in Early Childhood Settings. The 30 credit Masters program culminates with the students completion of the final capstone course, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the key processes of early childhood program evaluation.
Students of the MA program may use the curriculum when developing lesson plans, carrying out disciplinary actions, fostering creativity for staff and volunteers, as well as always using proper ethics and professional behavior. Graduates of the Leadership in Earl Childhood Education degree program should also be able to contribute to the growing need of well-trained and educated professionals. Graduate student teachers are likely to gain positions within mid to entry-level career opportunities, teaching and substitute-teaching in addition to using the degree as foundation for further educational aspirations at the Doctorate level of education.
