Brandman University offers students the opportunity to earn a valuable education in the concentration of information systems management. The Bachelor of Business Administration program recognizes the need for well educated individuals in the area of computer application, information systems and other fields related to the practical study of the complementary networks of hardware and software used to collect, filter, process, create, and distribute data. IS professionals who collect data, may apply the learned results when formulating strategies for such business aspects as internal improvement or profit maximization.
The formal BBA education bridges the gap between business and computer science, using the foundations of information and computation and strategically applying business models. The broad industry of information systems also includes Computer Information System (CIS) which studies the computer and algorithmic processes, principles, software and hardware designs, applications, and impact on society while the IS concentration emphasizes functionality over design.
Students have the option of completing the required courses at one of the many California campus locations, including approved Military bases, as well as entirely online. The flexible learning format allows busy professionals and other non-traditional learners to satisfy current careers or obligations while remaining in current careers or locations. The growing dependency on accurate information is attributing to the success of almost any organization and entrepreneurship endeavor. The Information Systems Management degree coincides with the circulation of information and ideas, the necessity for data integrity created the need for a system that could be continuously updated to promote modern approaches and improve social effectiveness & efficiency. Information systems are the foundation for information processing within an organization, sharing the benefits of trial and error with modern society.
The BBA curriculum gives students the solid business foundation, while the emphasis in Information Systems Management introduces students to principles of programming and computer systems, project management, data communications, network implementation, systems quality assurance and security. Students must complete 120 credits, 21 of them being in the Information Systems Management concentration.
Upon successful completion of the required business and information systems courses, successful students, should be able to apply the learned fundamentals in current and future technology savvy organizations. A degree in information system may be applied beyond technology an organizational use, as the digital innovations expand into many dynamic parts of the business process. Graduates with an IS degree should gain a useful and flexible understanding when entering the competitive job market.
