Bachelor of Business Administration / Human Resources
The concept of human capital within an organization's daily function is a relatively new way of thinking. The value placed on the ‘labor element’ of a company’s production, whether it is goods, services or non-tangible assets such as communications, is now more commonly being treated as an intricate part of the success of a business. Earning the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a concentration in Human Resources should give students the core focus on the human element of business, human resources, as the vital link between success and failure.
Human Resources (HR) is responsible for the employee experience. The primary objective of a human resource department is to attract and recruit suitable employees with proper industry marketing, then hire and oversee training and development during the entire employment with the organization. HR is also involved in employee terminations - including resignations, performance-related dismissals, and redundancies. Human resources is the human touch to the dynamic business industry. Students may gain the necessary knowledge and skills needed to enter the dynamic business industry as a sought after liaison between with the employee and the organization.
Students must complete the required 120 credits, 21 of them being in the Human Resources concentration. The curriculum should emphasize the value created by incorporating the thoughts, emotions and psychology behind a work force, increases productivity, work ethic and minimizes resentment. The BBA in Human Resources introduces students to principles of compensation and benefits, labor relations, legal studies, conflict resolution, workforce planning and employment, performance improvement, social and technological change, and team building; in addition to the core business foundations needed for entry into the competitive job market.
Graduates with the BBA degree, should be able to use a Human Resources concentration when entering small or large organizations, each designing a specialized department performing various HR tasks and functions as leaders in strategic decision making across the business. The flexible learning format is available to students at one of the many California campuses or entirely online, allowing for busy professionals the opportunity to gain the advanced education while remaining in current careers or satisfying other obligations restricting time spent in a traditional classroom.
