BA, Liberal Studies, Multiple Subjects Teaching
Students seeking to expand their teaching curriculum may participate in Brandman University’s online and on campus Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree program, concentrating on Multiple Subjects Teaching. The program is available to California residents through several campus locations, approved military bases and completely online as well. Student teachers should gain a thorough understanding of subjects most commonly taught in California elementary schools.
The multiple subjects teaching concentration allows students to choose one of three areas of focus: Language Arts, Social Science, or Early Childhood Education, in addition to the core multiple subjects curriculum. Student teachers may use the concentrations to fit personal or professional aspirations and future educational pursuits.
Earning the BA in Multiple Subjects should give graduates the foundational education needed to demonstrate an understanding of core subjects related to: the visual arts, health and safety, computer applications, physical education, and child development. Students should supplement the core subject matter with additional courses in their chosen area of focus, shedding light on Intercultural Communications, Introductory Sociology, and Early Childhood Education concepts.
Graduates should be able to use the learned knowledge and skills when sitting for California teaching credentials, as well as the solid foundation for additional educational pursuits at a master’s level. Successful student teachers are able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the modern American government, the dynamic multiculturalism of society, and the critical influence both play on teaching and how school aged children learn and contribute to society.
