BA, Criminal Justice, Leadership
Brandman University offers students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degree with the concentration on Leadership. Earning the advanced degree in essential leadership concepts may be critical for a successful students entrance into the competitive law enforcement field. Students have the choice of attending the criminal justice program through a variety of avenues in one of the many California classrooms, the four select military bases in California and Washington, or online.
A leadership concentration may give criminal justice students the formal academic education needed when providing a modern approach to management, organization and team building, while still providing the core law enforcement and security courses. The definition of ‘leadership’ can fit many ideas. Leadership can be a process, a personality trait, a task, or an action. The concept of leadership has been viewed as an inherent trait, something that cannot be learned. Potential graduates should use the leadership curriculum to harness the prowess needed to organize a group of people and achieve a common goal with a strategic combination of courses such as Public Sector Leadership and Ethics, Team Leadership in Criminal Justice, and Criminal Justice Leadership Theory and Practice and Diversity.
The bachelor program in criminal justice consists of 120 credits, delving into either the general criminal justice topics or the chosen area of concentration. Upon successful completion of the required credits, potential graduates should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice field during the final capstone course at the culmination of the program. The multi-faceted program of study will introduce students to concepts of law creation, court systems, policing procedures, and correction facilities. The baccalaureate degree may provide the foundational education in criminal justice consisting of learning the goals associated with enforcing laws, reducing crime, providing security and punishing those who infringe on established rules.
