The Bachelor of Liberal Studies online program provides students with the opportunity to learn and develop skills through a personalized curriculum geared to their interests and needs, designed to enhance their knowledge in a field of their choice or prepare them for a career beyond college. This program is available to the student whose interests extend beyond a single academic area or a structured program. In cooperation with an academic advisor, students take responsibility for designing their own course of study within the College of Arts & Sciences for a liberal arts degree program that matches their educational goals within the parameters of the BLS Degree Requirements.

Bowling Green State University was originally founded in 1910 as a teacher-training institution. The first bachelor's degrees were awarded in 1917. After establishing a name for themselves, Bowling Green attained full university status in 1947 and they formed their Graduate School later that year. Bowling Green State University is a four-year public university, focused on providing experiences that enhance their students’ lives.
