Master of Arts in Science and Religion
Students who already have a background in history, theology, or philosophy and are interested in pursuing a master’s degree may find the Master of Art’s degree in Science and Religion beneficial. This program is offered in a completely online format from Biola University.
The curriculum incorporates the required foundational subjects with modern science and Christianity. Biola offers special events and seminars that emphasize modern theological issues combined with scientific areas to increase the student’s understanding and teach them to integrate their thoughts. This program is completely online, which allows interested applicants who cannot relocate the opportunity to continue their education. However, some campus visits are required during the summer to facilitate faculty and peer interaction.
The summer sessions required by the program take place in June for about 2 weeks. During the on campus visitation, students will attend lectures that relate to the spring semester courses. Lecture recordings are available for accepted applicants to pre-order for personal reference.
Students are required to successfully complete 36-credit hours to receive their degree. Accepted applicants with a solid foundation in philosophy and Bible courses are encouraged to meet with an advisor to receive approval to take additional elective classes in place of philosophy and Bible. The coursework is divided into the science and religion core, religious studies core, philosophy, and elective courses.
Consistent Internet access is required for this program because students will be accessing course materials, grades and discussion boards for interaction between classmates from an online educational website.
