The online Long-Term Certificate in Child Development program prepares individuals to work in settings that care for and educate children. The curriculum teaches the essentials of designing curriculum, creating lesson plans, and introducing activities appropriate for children. Individuals also learn observation and assessment techniques, positive discipline, communication, CPR, first aid, safety, and nutrition. This certificate requires fewer courses in general studies than the Associates in Applied Science Degree and the same number of courses specific to the child development discipline.
