Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies
Beulah Heights University offers to interested students the Bachelor of Arts degree concentrating on Religious Studies. Earning a degree in religion may give students the formal education needed to enter into a specific field or as the foundation for furthering their degree pursuits at a Masters level. Students in this program should aim for an advanced understanding of the Bible, as well as the impact written scripture may have on contemporary theology.
The degree is comprised of 129 hours and focuses on core biblical and theological concepts necessary for students to defend the Christian religion, with a working knowledge of many topics. The required program hours are distributed across areas of communications, general studies, religious electives, the student’s choice of electives, and the core religion courses. This bachelor's program provides students with a blend of applicable skills with the focus on Bible studies in such subjects as: Pentateuch, the Life of Christ, Old and New Testament Literature, Systematic Theology, Hermeneutics, Apocalyptic Literature, New Testament Epistles and Apologetics.
While in this program, students should be able to enhance their already earned experiences with the supplemental coursework designed to explain and solidify a student’s faith, in addition to recognizing the articulation necessary for defending Christianity against scientism, historical criticism, philosophy, cults and non-Christian religions. The religious studies degree may be able to be used to serve a local or foreign community in positions of ministry, pastoral duties and as missionaries. The foundational education should prepare students to engage in biblical interpretation while also exhibiting a strong knowledge of the scripture as applicable across many facets of a personal and professional life.
