Program Overview

Berkeley College offers a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Communications for students who are interested in how businesses and other organizations communicate with consumers and the community through messages, media, and advertising. Business leaders are needed with managerial skills and business knowledge needed to understand the relationship between the economy and business, ability to anticipate consumer needs and translate those needs into products and services to create campaigns to sell products. All these factors are needed to reach customers in a way that will create image around a brand in order to draw the customers that the business wants to do business with.

The program consists of classroom courses which emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education which will be applicable on the job. Those classes include statistics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, psychology, intercultural communication, persuasive communication, mathematics with business applications, business communications, business ethics, project management, multimedia and business presentations, foundations of market research, and principles of marketing.

Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to have earned their degree. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as a functional affective professional in their field.  These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to demonstrate a foundation in the broader marketing principles, along with a specialized focus on the most current marketing communications tools, develop a mastery of theory through practice in marketing, and to develop skills and abilities that demonstrate understanding of the four P’s of marketing, and of media and advertising of products.

    School Overview

    During the Great Depression, women attended Berkeley College, in New York City, to learn vital executive secretarial skills. First established by Alyea M. Brick in 1931, Berkeley added a two-year secretarial program awarding college credit and then opened a second campus in 1936. With the introductions of computers and new technologies, Berkeley College expanded horizons, adding additional campus locations, increasing the number of academic programs, and admitting male students by 1977. Today, the private, for-profit Berkeley College maintains three campus locations in New York and six locations in New Jersey in addition to Berkeley College Online. Students can pursue associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, along with certificate programs.

    Berkeley College Online offers degree programs for non-traditional students and students requiring added flexibility. Courses are delivered asynchronous, and students complete weekly assignments at their pace and have access to coursework 24/7. Typical online classes include reading and writing assignments, in addition to discussion boards and possible online group projects.
