Business Administration - Management-Associate in Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.)
Berkeley offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Management for students who want to develop their careers in business along the roles and responsibilities of management in business. As part of the program, students will focus on the general issues of written and oral communications and about the responsibilities of management in the perspective of accounting, marketing, finance, and other fields which affect the success and viability of a company. In addition, students will learn about working with employees under their supervision, working with other departments, and working with senior executives in order to best direct the efforts of the firm.
The program consists of classroom courses which emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education which will be applicable on the job. Those classes include principles of management, customer service management, human resources management, computer applications in business, fundamentals of accounting for managers, business organization and management, career management, international business, principles of marketing, computer applications, expository writing, writing through literature, public speaking, mathematics with business applications, macroeconomics, microeconomics, and psychology.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate the student has been able to apply the principles they learned in the program into their eventual development as a functional affective professional in their field. These qualifications include but are not limited to: the ability to demonstrate proficiency in the fundamental business principles and practices related to the responsibilities of management, to develop creative and critical thinking capabilities necessary for utilization in business, to learn about issues that impact business decisions from economic, political, legal, and social perspectives, to evaluate the application of technology as a strategy for competitive advantage in business, and to demonstrate a knowledge of general education topics which will form the foundation of future education.
