Program Details

The online AS in Professional Studies / Business Administration-Accounting degree program is designed for students seeking a career in the accounting field. The curriculum provides an integration of accounting, business, and liberal arts courses needed to enhance critical thinking, analytical, decision-making, and communication skills required by contemporary accountants. Graduates possess the knowledge and skills required to: 

  • Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to the recording and reporting of business transactions
  • ​Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Identify the importance of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and identify the responsibilities and requirements of ethical behavior incumbent upon management and the outside auditors
  • ​Demonstrate computer competency in business applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software
  • ​Use financial information to perform managerial decision making
  • Present ideas orally and in writing in an effective manner for a professional audience
