Bay State College
Bay State College offers the Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Finance for students who are interested in learning about the processes of finance in a company, including finding money for businesses, choosing profitable business ventures, and acting as personal investors for others. Through this program, students will prepare for careers in banking, financial services, and business management by studying corporate finance, accounting, investments, taxation, currency, and capital markets. In addition, students will study the management topics relating to marketing, management, information technology, and operations.
The program consists of classroom courses which emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education which will be applicable on the job. Those classes include computer and information literacy, psychology, college algebra, management, introduction to business, first year experience, English, microeconomics, public speaking, writing for business, financial accounting, macroeconomics, business law, literature, organizational behavior, statistics, principles of marketing, sociology, intermediate accounting, finance, managerial finance, business ethnics, management information systems, international management, mathematics for management, money and capital markets, investments, operational management, strategic management, and risk management.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the Master of Science degree. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as functional affective professional in their field. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to demonstrate an extensive and practical knowledge-base of theory, tools, skills, practices, and research related to business and be able to apply these to the problems and opportunities that are encountered in the 21st-century business environment, to demonstrate effective professional and interpersonal practices essential in business, to develop a range of professional strategies that promote their effectiveness in a business environment, and to demonstrate ethical, legal, and responsible behavior and explain the broader role that business has in society and their own responsibilities as a member of the business community and citizens in society.

In 1946, Bay State College limited instruction to enhancing skill sets for students entering the airline industry. Then in 1961, Bay State relocated to its current campus in Back Bay, Boston. By 1975, the college expanded programs to offer Associate’s degrees, and gained accreditation in 1989. Bay State introduced Bachelor’s degree programs in 2004. Currently, the private, not-for-profit Bay State College houses the main downtown Boston campus, along with a satellite campus in Middleborough, Massachusetts, and a third online division.
Students can complete online degrees through the distance learning campus at Bay State College. Online courses feature asynchronous instructor-guided sessions, complete with assignments and class activities. In addition, classes operate on the same schedule as on-campus counterparts, with eight-week long classes conducted in six terms per academic year. Students participating in on-campus day or evening programs may also enroll in online classes to accommodate busy lifestyles. Online students also have access to resources, including the Bay State College Library and its extensive online database.
