Program Overview

Finding qualified persons to fill leadership and management positions requires a mix of both training and experience. Because both of these things take time, persons just entering the workforce may feel as if it will be quite some time before they gain enough experience to fill leadership roles.  An online degree allows persons working full time to gain the education and leadership fundamentals necessary without giving up their existing careers. Bay Path University's Bachelor’s program in Leadership and Organization Studies (LOS) fits this mold.

With an emphasis on female empowerment, Bay Path’s LOS program provides students of both genders the opportunity to develop leadership skills that are not often taught to women. Students gain a foundation in management by studying how organizations operate and how leadership functions within those organizations. Theories of leadership are taught with an emphasis on the practical application of these theories. Additionally, the program focuses on the interdependence of people and positions within the workplace, realizing that success comes when everyone works together as a team.

The program allows students to choose one of three emphases: Human Resources, Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy, or Healthcare Management. Course highlights include Strategies for Career and Personal Growth, Leadership in Practice, Leadership and Management in a Global World, and Organizational Budgeting and Personal Finance.

Students are required to complete 120 credits to earn their degree. Of those 120 credits, students are allowed to transfer a minimum of 60 credits but cannot transfer in more than 84; 36 credits must be earned through Bay Path. Students may earn transfer credit for professional work experience. Throughout the program, no grade of a C- or below will be accepted toward the counted credits. Bay Path estimates the cost of education to be $480 per credit, but financial aid is available to help reduce these costs.

Those interested in learning more about this Bay Path program are encouraged to join faculty in an information webinar. Details on the webinar scheduling can be found on the school’s website.

    School Overview

Bay Path University, located on a 48 acre campus in the historic town of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, is a private women’s college that was founded in 1897. At the time of its founding, Bay Path was located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and existed as a co-educational college that offered degrees in accounting, secretarial science, business teacher training and business administration.  The college moved its location to Longmeadow, Massachusetts, in 1945, at which time it became a single-sex institution, enrolling only women.

Bay Path has an online program that is available for both men and women and is a flexible and supportive option for working adults that aspire to earn a degree, but are not able to attend campus classes due to their busy schedules. Students in the online program have the option of attending solely online, or if they are able to attend some classes on campus, they can combine the campus classes and online classes.
