Local businessmen gathered for coffee each day at the Mayflower Café in Great Bend, Kansas, and that is where the idea for a community college surfaced. As support spread throughout the community and studies were completed, the Barton County Community College was established in 1965.
At Barton Community College, students can pursue Associate’s degrees and enroll in the college transfer program, or choose to complete career technical programs and earn certificates. Certificates vary by career program. Numerous options exist, and programs of study are organized into eighteen different divisions.
Students can also enroll in the distance learning program through Barton’s virtual campus. BARTON Line gives students the necessary flexibility to complete online degrees and coursework. FAsynchronous courses are formatted in 9-week and 17-week sessions. Students can choose from multiple Associate’s degree tracks that prepare students for transfer into four-year programs.
