Program Details
The online Certificate in Child Development program prepares participants to be paraprofessionals who work with young children as professional nannies, family childcare providers, infant/toddler teachers, preschool teachers, Head Start, and vacation or cruise ship children’s activity directors. The program helps teachers capitalize on children’s play to further language and vocabulary development, improve social skills, and introduce scientific and mathematical concepts. Educators learn to use a less structured approach, including small-group lessons, one-on-one instruction, and learning through creative activities to teach children. Graduates are prepared both physically and emotionally to work constantly with children at their level while attending to their interests and needs.
