Program Details

The Doctorate in Social Work from Barry University is an online social work degree for MSW practitioners.  This program offers a doctoral-level practice-focused degree in clinical practice.  Courses provide expertise in linking social work practice theory to conducting practice-outcome research, utilizing research for policymaking decisions, and the dissemination of practice knowledge to the practice community through various channels.  Students develop substantive expertise in at least one area of social work practice as they prepare to exhibit executive leadership in human service organizations.  This includes working with stakeholders to advance social policy that creates sustainable changes which improve the well-being of at-risk populations and communities as well as managing organizational effectiveness and improving service quality.  Graduates are ready to integrate practice wisdom and multidisciplinary theoretical and empirical lenses while creating an innovative practice with individuals, families, groups, and communities.
