Program Details

Ball State University offers an online Master of Arts in Interior Design.  This online interior design degree will develop and hone the students’ creative processes in their pursuit of design excellence while equipping them to be professional interior designers.  Your practical skills will be complemented with design theory, critical thinking skills, and other knowledge that will help you continue to grow and evolve as the needs of the global populations change.  While emphasizing research and theory, the curriculum also covers environmental psychology, graphic communication skills, and design for ergonomic, accessibility, functional, and cultural needs. 

Graduates are able to:

  • Research and identify clients’ need as related to behavioral settings, proxemics, density and crowding, personal space, and territory
  • Demonstrate graphic communication skills
  • Integrate various approaches and articulations of creative and critical thinking through the study of innovative design methodologies, scholarly design articles related to social, cultural, and economic developments over time, and works of key practitioners, theorists, and critics
  • Use creative expression and intellectual leadership along with professional standards and ethical procedures
