    School Overview

Founded in 1858 in Baldwin City, Kansas, Baker University celebrates the title as the first university in Kansas. Named after a well-noted Methodist bishop, Osmon Cleander Baker, the University has continued to grow and expand. Today, Baker retains affiliations with the United Methodist Church and has seven campuses extending from Kansas to Missouri. Baker University confers associate’s and bachelor’s, along with graduate degrees, and is comprised of four schools, including the:

    • College of Arts and Sciences
    • School of Professional and Graduate Studies
    • School of Nursing
    • School of Education

For students that require greater flexibility, especially working professionals, Baker University offers online programs and courses. Online classes meet the same academic standards as on-campus programs and professors hold no less than a Master’s degree in their discipline. Classes meet asynchronously, and students can log into the Moodle learning management system 24/7 to access assignments and class information. Twenty-four hour technical support is also available. Students complete one course at a time, ranging from six to eight weeks in length, and year-round classes and ongoing start dates afford students the opportunity to complete degrees in accelerated plans.
