The Master of Science in Health and Human Performance Degree from Austin Peay State University is designed for students with an interest in nutrition, physiology, and sports and human performance. The Health Administration concentration is an entirely online option intended for students that are seeking flexibility in their study and have an interest in taking on future administrative roles in their current or prospective place of work.
This program is offered through the Department of Health and Human Performance at APSU. The faculty of this department are committed to helping students develop intellectually, economically, socially, and culturally in order to succeed in employment and life in general. The program and staff promote critical thinking, academic honesty and ethics, creativity, and the importance of oral and written communication skills. It is the goal of this department to promote diversity and cultural appreciation, to foster a positive learning environment, and continually improve courses and programs to maintain current and relevant education for its students.
To complete this program, those enrolled must earn 30 credits from a prescribed curriculum. The program is able to be finished in as little as a year, depending on credits taken per semester and student performance. The curriculum is mostly set, as many classes are prerequisites for those that follow. Topics cover professional writing, financial management principles, and the economics of the healthcare system. Courses include Research Process in Health and Human Performance, Administration for Health Educators and Managers, and Law, Policy, and Advocacy.

To be admitted, applicants should meet the following admission requirements:
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Bachelor’s degree, conferred in any field, from a regionally accredited institution
- Minimum GRE revised General Test scores of: Verbal-140, Quantitative-140, and 2.5 Analytical Writing score
- Receipt of admission from the Health and Human Performance department selection committee
Founded in 1927, and named for Tennessee Governor Austin Peay, serving at the time of the school’s establishment, the university originated as a normal school for educators. Today, Austin Peay State University (APSU) is a four-year public institution of higher education, and its main campus is located in the city of Clarksville, Tennessee. Austin Peay State University hosts distance education degrees and courses through APSU Online and Regents Online Degree Programs (RODP).
Online degrees include associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, and a teacher education and licensure program. Students can enroll in the Associate of Science Liberal Arts program or pursue a bachelor degree, including, but not limited to, fields of: communication, computer science, criminal justice, medical technology, nursing, political science, public management, and professional studies. Master’s degrees range from studies in education and communication to professional studies and nursing. Educator programs include add-on endorsements and professional development. Some programs are hybrid and do require on-campus components, while other courses may require proctored exams. Coursework is asynchronous, but classes follow that of traditional calendars with set assignments and deadlines. Online classes have the same start date as on-campus counterparts.
