Program Details

The Master of Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology Degree program at Austin Peay State University is designed for students that wish to pursue careers in industry or the government, among other areas. Graduates should also be prepared for positions in personnel selection, training and development, performance appraisal, and team performance and leadership. Students are able to complete this program entirely online. The flexibility of delivery is intended to aid working students in coordinating busy schedules.

This program follows the guidelines for education and training at the master's level as set forth by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. It is the goal of this program to produce graduates that will be able to carry out the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of psychology-based human resource interventions in organizations. Graduates will be exposed to research and current materials in order to be prepared for entry level positions as Master's level I-O Psychology Practitioners in business, industry, and government.


Admission to the College of Graduate Studies requires a minimum GRE verbal score of 350, a minimum GRE quantitative score of 350 (we expect comparable scores for the new version of the GRE), and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5. The prerequisite for pursuing the M.A. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology degree is 12 hours in psychology or related courses.
