    School Overview

Atlanta Technical College is a public, two-year institution of higher learning, located in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. ATC first opened in 1945, as the Smith-Hughes Vocational School, specializing in occupational trainings for adult students following World War II. As part of the school’s mission statement, Atlanta Technical College states: “The integration of academics and applied career preparation to enhance student learning is essential in meeting the workforce demands and economic development needs of people, businesses, and the communities we serve.” Through e-Campus, Atlanta Technical College provides accredited distance education degrees, in addition to individual online and hybrid coursework.

Atlanta Technical College defines online to mean 80 to 100 percent online, while hybrid courses meet at least 50 percent of the time in a physical classroom. Possible on-campus components may include orientation programs, presentations, and/or testing. Coursework follows the same calendar as on-campus counterparts, and may or may not be self-paced. Students will follow a course syllabus, complete lessons and assignments, interact with peers through discussion boards, and communicate with instructors via email. Students may also be able to complete quizzes and exams virtually.
