Doctor of Ministry
Ashland University offers a Doctor of Ministry Degree that is well suited for students who are passionate about ministry and wish to fully incorporate it into their lives. Students enrolled in this program will be required to complete courses within a concentration, a seminar, and a doctoral project. Students will be challenged spiritually and gain valuable personal growth through this comprehensive program.
The Doctor of Ministry Degree Program consists of 45 quarter hours. Concentrations students may choose from include Black Church Studies, Canadian Church Studies, Formational Counseling, Independent Design, Spiritual Formation, Transformational Leadership, and Wesleyan Practices. By choosing a concentration, students are able to further customize their education and consider their own interests. Courses are designed to provide in-depth knowledge in order to ensure student success in ministry.
All courses are available online. The online learning environment provides flexibility for enrolled students who are employed or have other obligations. Students must be highly disciplined to complete a large amount of coursework. Time management, a reliable internet connection, and word processing skills are very important for students who enroll in this degree program.

Ashland University, affiliated with the Brethren Church, is a private not-for-profit, four-year institution of higher education, located in the city of Ashland Ohio. Ashland College was founded in 1878 by the German Baptist Brethren Church. In 1989, the college transitioned to Ashland University after the college expanded its academic offerings, including the addition of graduate programs. The mission of the university states “Ashland University educates and challenges students to develop intellectually and ethically, to seek wisdom and justice and to prepare for the rigors of living and working as citizens engaged in their local, national and global responsibilities."
Academic programs at Ashland University are housed in the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business & Economics, College of Education, College of Nursing & Health Sciences, the Graduate School, and the Founders School of Continuing Education. A number of online classes (fully online and hybrid courses) are available to both undergraduate and graduate students. Distance education degrees are offered in asynchronous formats online.
