Clinical Informatics Certificate
Armstrong Atlantic State University is currently offering an exciting new post-baccalaureate certificate program for clinical professionals. The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Informatics gives working practitioners the tools to become leaders in health-related information technology solutions. It is offered completely online to allow busy professionals to attend class while working at the same time. This program will teach students how to develop, implement, evaluate and manage information technology within their health environment. The program will also prepare students to complete the Certified Professional in Health Information Management and Systems licensing examination, which is administered by the Health Information Management System Society. Health professionals who wish to become data-driven leaders in their position may want to consider this program as a way in enrich their information systems proficiency within their organization.
Admission to this program requires a Bachelor’s degree. Individuals must also have current licensure as a clinical professional in nursing, pharmacy or other related fields; 2 or more years of recent clinical experience is also required. Once admitted, students will complete a total of 12 credits which will cover the basics of information technologies in health care. The credits are divided over 4 advanced studies classes: Foundations of Clinical Informatics, Knowledge/Information Management, Project Management, Systems Lifecycle and Applications. Students can expect the online experience with these classes to include innovative and engaging assignments that apply real-world situations. Armstrong will provide online students with a dedicated point of contact and advisor to insure that students will have a guiding hand through the certification process.
