Master of Science in Engineering in Materials Science and EngineeringArea of Study: Semiconductor Processing and Packaging
Arizona State University Online offers a Master of Science in Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering in Semiconductor Processing and Packaging for students and professionals who are interested in the development of computer processors, including central processing units, graphical processing units, solid state units, and other units responsible for the calculation and distribution of data. Students will learn about the processing of semiconductor devices and systems and how they are constructed and packaging systems that connect semiconductor systems to devices and systems to enable functionality.
The program consists of classroom courses that emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education that will be applicable on the job. Those classes include industrial electronics and applications, electronic test systems and applications, digital real-time control, system dynamics and control, power electronics, instrumentation and measurement systems, electronic circuits, digital real-time controls, energy conversion and applications, digital signal processing, and control system technology.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as functional affective professional in their field.
These qualifications include the ability to understand the design of semiconductor processing and production facilities and methodology, to understand the connections and packaging systems that are responsible for allowing functionality of semiconductor systems, to understand the technology in creation of these devices and external packaging systems, and to understand the theoretical and applicable engineering and computer science systems involved in creation of these devices.
