Master of Engineering Area of Study: Quality, Reliability and Statistical Engineering
Arizona State University Online offers a Master of Engineering in Quality, Reliability, and Statistical Engineering for students who are interested in developing an understanding of basic statistics and advanced statistical principles and their usage in how to improving quality, reliability and measuring and achieving meaningful results. Students in this specialization are utilized in product and service realization, engineering design, product and process development, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and supply chain management. Students will learn how statistics and engineering techniques are utilized in industrial and business settings as well as theory and methodology in order to develop solutions to unique problems.
The program consists of classroom courses that emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education that will be applicable on the job. Those classes include structured data management, distributed database systems, computer architecture, mobile computing, applied cryptography, information assurance and security, computer network security, and combinatorial algorithms and intractability.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as a functional affective professional.
These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to design appropriate software system structures in response to application needs, organizational environment, and technical ecology, to make appropriate design choices based on system, service, and business process needs, to analyze social, legal, ethical, and professional issues in business and technical decision making, to analyze statistical systems in order to monitor development of prototype systems and quality assurance systems, to use sound evaluation practices to select appropriately among competing technologies and technical approaches, and to develop statistical approaches to engineering problems and solutions.
