Master of Engineering Area of Study: Embedded Systems
Arizona State University Online offers a Master of Engineering in Embedded Systems for students who want to understand systems whose responsibilities involve predictability, reliability, and handling a large number of operations a day for years or decades. These systems are specialized to be low-computation, low-energy, low-cost, and free from intensive and frequent updates or repairs for functionality. These systems provide the basis for banking, communications, currency transactions, traffic control, GPS, and other backbones of modern society. Embedded systems are in specialized demand for qualified professionals than application-based programmers are not specialized in providing these services.
The program consists of classroom courses that emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education that will be applicable on the job. Those classes include fundamentals of information systems, core web technologies, principles of programming, systems analysis and design, embedded system development, embedded systems operation and management, information technology in the organization, operating system and network architecture, and data modeling and database design.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as functional affective professional in their field.
These qualifications include the ability to apply core information technology principles and practices, to work in geographically dispersed teams to produce effective solutions to complex information technology problems, to recommend appropriate information technology solutions based on organizational needs and an evaluation of alternatives, to evaluate professional, individual, organizational, societal, and regulatory implications of information systems and technology, and to demonstrate ethical, legal, and responsible behavior in the development and deployment of information systems to meet organizational needs.
