Master of Education-Educational Administration & Supervision, Teacher Leadership
Arizona State University Online offers a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Teacher Leadership for students and educators who want to promote their abilities to work as an educator as part of a system and create a more defined role for themselves in their school district by becoming a supervisor. Students will study the challenges of curriculum development, interpreting and using test results, interacting with the community, and leading other teachers to achieve school goals.
The program consists of classroom courses that emphasize real-world education through examination of cases and education that will be applicable on the job. Those classes include the teacher as a professional, dynamic teacher leadership, mentoring, coaching, and collaboration with colleagues, creating an effective classroom learning environment, action research for educators, enhancing learning through cultural diversity, teacher leadership in professional learning communities, and designing curriculum, instruction, and assessment plans for students.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. The qualifications demonstrate the student has been able to apply the principles they learned in the program into their eventual development as a functional affective professional.
These qualifications include the ability to treat students equitably, recognizing the individual differences that distinguish one student from another, to create multiple paths to the subjects they teach, through their knowledge of how the subject is created, organized, linked to other disciplines, and applied to real-world settings, and to manage and monitor student learning to create, enrich, maintain, and alter instructional settings to capture and sustain the interest of their students and to make the most effective use of time.
